Ensuring a future for quality bleeding and blood disorders care

In a huge step towards building a sustainable quality care system, Kenya Haemophilia Association (KHA) is working with the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) to formulate a training curriculum that will give a bigger focus to bleeding and blood disorders.

With 74 campuses across the country, KMTC graduates account for more than 85% of the local middle level workforce in Kenyan health facilities. The new curriculum will cover multiple medical disciplines including nursing, psychology, laboratory and dentistry.

This milestone is the culmination of KHA’s successful advocacy efforts with KMTC including multiple engagements with CEO Dr Kelly Oluoch. KMTC Deputy Director Academic Dr Nyawira Mwangi, officially opened the meeting to kick-off the curriculum development in Machakos on 20 February 2024.
