Project officer for NNHF partners in India

Are you passionate about improving healthcare access for people with bleeding disorders and haemoglobinopathies in India? Do you have strong project coordination skills and experience working with diverse healthcare stakeholders? Our NNHF project partner in India is seeking a Project Officer to make a tangible difference in the lives of people with haemophilia, thalassemia, and sickle cell disease across the country.

The Project Officer will be based in India as an external consultant. You will support project implementation and monitor local outcomes and impact, working closely with healthcare institutions, government bodies, and patient organisations across India. This position reports to the Programme Manager – India/Asia and collaborates with NNHF team members, local programme partners, and community stakeholders. The main scope of accountabilities includes but is not limited to:

  • Project coordination leading to high performance in terms of sustainable local outcome and impact creation across the bleeding disorders and haemoglobinopathies portfolio in India.
  • Local outcome and impact monitoring, assessment and analysis – supporting partners to create, measure and communicate impact using sound methodologies, maintaining programme documentation, and supporting disease registry development.
  • Stakeholder engagement – maintaining strong relationships with Central and State Ministries of Health, Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), State Health Departments, NGOs, patient organisations, medical colleges, hospitals, and other stakeholders to facilitate programme delivery.
  • Actively improving access to care for people with bleeding disorders and haemoglobinopathies by supporting execution of running projects in a timely and budget-conscious manner.

Qualifications

  • University education leading to MSc, MBA or Master of Public Health, or equivalent.
  • Minimum 2-3 years of professional experience in healthcare programme management, public health, pharmaceutical industry, NGO sector, or management consulting with emphasis on healthcare.
  • Experience in coordinating multi-stakeholder programmes involving government institutions, medical colleges, hospitals, and patient organisations.
  • Understanding of the Indian healthcare system and policy landscape.
  • Full command of English – fluency in both written and oral communications. Knowledge of Hindi is highly desirable; additional regional language qualifications are preferable.
  • Proven ability to work independently as an external consultant while maintaining strong collaborative relationships with cross-cultural, global teams.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal skills, and intercultural awareness with sensitivity to regional differences within India.
  • Systematic working style with excellent time management, prioritisation, project management and presentation skills.
  • Analytical skills with ability to measure and communicate programme impact.
  • Readiness to extensively travel within India, including to remote and rural areas.

Duration: The Project Officer position will be based in India as an external consultant on a fixed-term contract until 1st of August 2027 with possibility of extension.
