Johnny Mahlangu

Prof Johnny Mahlangu is Director of the Haemophilia Comprehensive Care Centre at Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Hospital at University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa. He is also the president of the South African Society of Haematology and South African Medical Association Gauteng Branch.

Prof Mahlangu holds a BSc in laboratory medicine and a MMed both from the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg. As a clinical haematologist with special interests in haemostasis and thrombosis, he sits on the editorial board of various haemophilia treatment guideline committees and participates in multi-national clinical trials.

Prof Mahlangu has teamed up with international and local organisations, as well as a wide network of experts, to improve haemophilia care in many African countries. For his dedication to the haemophilia community over the past 15 years, Prof Mahlangu was selected as winner of the Novo Nordisk Haemophilia Foundation Community award 2018.

Prof Mahlangu was elected as Novo Nordisk Haemophilia Foundation Council in May 2019.
