Sustainable diagnosis through training

“My name is Mylner Oliveira Fermiano de Souza and I am a biomedical haematologist by training. I’ve been working in the lab at the Institute of Haematology and Haemotherapy of Amapá (HEMOAP) since 2014. Haemostasis, the process that stops the body from bleeding in case of an injury, is an interesting science. I was pleased to participate in the training on coagulation testing and equipment, and especially to have a chance to exchange experiences with professionals from other states working in my field. The laboratory training gave me a better understanding of the pre-analytical and analytical processes of tests we didn’t previously perform.”

”I am a biologist working at the Hospital das Clínicas at the faculty of medicine in São Paulo, and my name is Dr Tania Rubia Flores da Rocha. We held several theoretical and practical training courses for laboratory professionals with little experience in haemophilia diagnosis. Both the virtual and face-to-face sessions were very interactive. I believe that a professional with a good grounding in physiology can perform and interpret the results with discernment. This helps improve the quality of service for patients.”
