Objectives

  • Determine prevalence of coagulation disorders in North Vietnam
  • Creation of a database
  • Develop diagnosis and treatment guidelines

Achievements

  • Guidelines for diagnosis and care of people with hereditary bleeding disorders created – 1,000 copies printed and distributed in the targeted region
  • Updated patient organisation website
  • 40 healthcare professionals from Hanoi (National Institute of Haematology and Blood Transfusion and NHP), Bac Giang (general hospital) as well as Hai Phong (paediatric hospital) trained in haemophilia
  • 2,500 copies of haemophilia care book distributed to families
  • Patient education meeting for 47 newly diagnosed people with haemophilia from Hanoi, Bac Giang and Hai Phong
  • Four computers purchased and registry installed in hospitals of Hanoi, Bac Giang and Hai Phong
  • Over 20,000 bleeding disorders questionnaires distributed
  • 125 people tested, 47 new people with haemophilia diagnosed through the project
  • 1,050 people with bleeding disorders enrolled in the registry
  • Meeting with physicians from Hanoi, Hue and Ho Chi Minh City which focused on identifying the common needs of North, Central and South Vietnam
