Objectives

  • Increase public awareness about haemophilia
  • Organise outreach visits to Eastern, Central and Northern Uganda to identify new haemophilia patients
  • Increase patients knowledge about haemophilia
  • Advocate for better care for haemophilia patients

Achievements

  • Awareness creation amongst tribal communities and more than 200 traditional circumcisors
  • 42 radio programmes and 5 TV shows were held and 4 articles published to further create awareness about haemophilia across the country
  • 447 healthcare professional attended awareness training
  • 200 Village Health Team members were trained
  • Number of diagnosed people with haemophilia increased from 99 to 207
  • 2 patient camps were organised with 250 participants
  • The first leadership training was executed and a youth group formed
  • Advocacy activities led to a presentation in parliament
