Objectives

  • Design and apply a comprehensive national training programme for healthcare professionals
  • Create guidelines for treatment of haemophilia
  • Produce educational material for healthcare professionals and people with haemophilia
  • Improve the laboratory facilities
  • Screen and (re-)diagnose 1,680 people with haemophilia
  • Six educational sessions for people with haemophilia to be conducted
  • Set up a national medical registry

Achievements

  • 3 healthcare professionals and 6 lab technicians trained in international specialist centres 
  • National guidelines established to standardise care nationwide
  • Improved diagnosis equipment and skills; for the first time people with haemophilia know the type and severity of their condition 
  • 146 people retested, and 19 newly identified by the end of 2017
  • 215 people with haemophilia and family members received educational training to improve their understanding of the condition
