Objectives

  • Improve skills of haematologists, lab technicians, physiotherapists and nurses of 8 states comprising the North East region
  • Customise the Parents Empowering Parents (PEP) programme according to local language and culture to enhance parents’ communications and capacity to manage their child’s condition
  • Train 40 parents in the suggested states using the adapted PEP programme in order to have them replicate the training to other parents in their chapters

Achievements

  • A Parents Empowering Parents (PEP) programme was delivered to 158 participants from the North and North East regions, improving their own knowledge and giving them the skills to educate more parents in their region.
  • A 2-day workshop on the management of haemophilia was attended by 108 healthcare professionals, preparing them to provide effective care for people with haemophilia.
