Objectives
- Create awareness about haemophilia and allied bleeding disorders
- Identify new people with haemophilia and allied bleeding disorders in four districts (Udupi, Dakshina Kannada, Chickamangaluru and Shimoga) of Karnataka, India
- Upgrade the haemostasis and thrombosis laboratory
- Diagnose new people with haemophilia and reconfirm partially diagnosed bleeding disorders cases
- Train medical and para-medical personnel in bleeding disorders in the selected regions
- Educate people with haemophilia and other bleeding disorders to empower them and improve their quality of life
Achievements
- 673 healthcare professionals were trained throughout the region
- 2,760 ASHAs (community healthcare workers) were activated to provide outreach
- 150 people with haemophilia were newly diagnosed
- 585 people with haemophilia and caregivers attended community events
For all the achievements listed above and the project team’s excellent project management the India 2 project was awarded with the 2014 NNHF Project of the Year Award.
