Objectives

  • Strengthen the patient organisation
  • Support capacity building on teaching hospital level aiming at further outreach to all 10 regions
  • Create awareness about haemophilia and available care facilities to eventually increase the diagnosis rate
  • Improve education on haemophilia of people with haemophilia and families

Achievements

  • Patient association strengthened by establishment of new chapter in Kumasi
  • 9 training sessions for 392 healthcare professionals from teaching and regional hospitals trained
  • 1,000 copies of guidelines for the management of haemophilia
  • 6 patient meetings in Kumasi and Accra with 108 people with haemophilia and 170 family members
  • 8,000 copies of educational brochures for people with haemophilia
  • 34 unique radio presentations, accumulating in about 680 minutes of live radio and 8 live TV appearances
  • Number of people with haemophilia increased from 36 to 98
