Objectives

  • Train healthcare professionals
  • Strengthen the coagulation laboratories in both national hospitals
  • Define the epidemiological picture of haemophilia
  • Create a national haemophilia patient registry
  • Organise educational sessions for people with haemophilia and their families

Achievements

  • 12 lab technicians were trained
  • 190 patients were diagnosed, re-diagnosed and registered
  • An educational camp was organised that 75 patients and family members attended
  • 21 healthcare professionals came together to create national guidelines for haemophilia
  • Two nurses and two physiotherapists attended 3-week haemophilia training programmes in Houston, Texas, US
  • 65 patients were evaluated together with a physiotherapist from Spain
  • 144 healthcare professionals were trained in general haemophilia around the country
