Objectives
- Establish multidisciplinary care at Tibet People’s Hospital in Lhasa. The last province in China without haemophilia centre
- Education of healthcare professionals in Tibet Autonomous Region including train-the-trainer
- To build a multidisciplinary team and Tibet People’s Hospital and to assist them to develop cooperation with local government
- Establish access to the Chinese national registry and register newly diagnosed people with haemophilia
- To guide Tibet Blood Centre on the national quality standards to enable appropriate production of cryoprecipitate in local blood centre
- Improve the awareness of multidisciplinary care in haemophilia amongst healthcare professionals, people with haemophilia, families and government
Achievements
- 1 doctor, 1 nurse and 1 laboratory technician from Tibet Blood Centre trained in Shandong Blood Center and in Beijing Children’s Hospital
- 49 healthcare professionals from Tibet trained raising awareness about haemophilia
- 3 laboratory technicians in Tibet Blood Centre trained
- Tibet Blood Centre trained to be able to produce cryoprecipitate
- Educational and awareness materials printed and distributed
- Access to the Chinese national registry established and people with haemophilia registered
Impact
- Basic haemophilia care is available in Lhasa
- People with haemophilia can receive basic diagnosis in Lhasa
- Healthcare professionals across Tibet are able to recognise haemophilia signals and refer for diagnosis
