Objectives

  • Plan and coordinate activities for the patient organisations to identify and form new leaders
  • Empower and develop 18 young leaders in the region
  • Start creating micro-projects by the new leaders to integrate them to their patient organisations and raise funds to implement the projects and advocate for their cause
  • Replication of acquired knowledge and skills by the new leaders to other members of their organisations

Achievements

  • Succession planning, improved strategic organisation and young leaders taking over responsibilities (128 new active youth; Costa Rica: from 0 to 30 youth; Dominican Republic: project office created; El Salvador: organisation revived and recognised by WFH; Venezuela: 3 youth now part of the board (sports, youth and communications coordinators) and 2 of the youth leaders are leading regional chapters)
  • Improved communication with medical community (Guatemala: joint action plan at HLF in Lima; Nicaragua: joint leadership of NNHF project; El Salvador: working together for the benefit of the patients)
  • More cohesion and collaboration amongst the patient community on a regional level
