Objectives

  • Strengthen haemophilia team capacity across Armenia
  • Bring care closer to the patients by setting up 2 satellite centres and organising 6 outreach
  • Establish rehabilitation capacity and care in the haemophilia centre in Yerevan
  • Increase disease knowledge of 160 PwH and family members to live better lives
  • Gain health authority support for the haemophilia programme

Achievements

  • Strengthening of the laboratory in Yerevan through procurement of equipment and training of lab technician
  • Strengthening of multidisciplinary care team in Yerevan through a 7-week training of a psychologist, sonographer and 3 nurses at the Yerevan State University
  • 6-month leadership innovation course for 3 doctors from Yerevan to build capacity of the centre and coordinate the collaboration between the multidisciplinary team
  • Decentralisation of diagnosis and care to Gyumri in the Shirak province, and thereby reducing time to receive care and diagnosis by at least 2 hours
  • 13 nurses from the region received a virtual training from the team in Yerevan
  • Diagnosis of 62 additional people with haemophilia, increasing the diagnosis rate by 40%, leading to an overall diagnosis rate of 94%
  • Through continuous dialogue and collaboration with the Ministry of Health, people with haemophilia below the age of 25 now receive preventive treatment, where before only on demand treatment was available
  • Empowering the haemophilia community through a psychosocial seminar attended by 31 people with haemophilia and their families
